In the last "Check my progress" I was being told that I had to create the managed instance groups, which, from my perspective, I had already created according to specification. Obviously, I was still doing something wrong, but since it was not giving me any feedback about what it was (was it the name, was it the region, etc.), my only choice was to start doing trial and error, which simply doesn't work with a running timer. I feel I need to retake the lab, not because I was doing something fundamentally wrong or because I don't know what I'm doing, but because there is a minor deviation that trips the check (or so I think). And I don't even know if I will magically get it right the second time around either. And, ultimately, that's time invested in vain. So yeah, maybe in this instance I would have appreciated a bit more information in the check, if that makes sense. More detailed feedback seems especially important in the kind of Challenge Labs that are usually done first (in introductory courses), were people are still getting their bearing with the tool.
