The first task is easy, but the second one is overly complex, and the "Check my progress" checkbox needs more detailed error messages. In my case, it complained "Please create a managed instance group with 2 nginx web server". When creating the instance template, I set "--metadata=startup-script=startup.sh", i.e. a filename rather than a string containing shell commands, as in the previous lab (the documentation said it would work this way), but the script wouldn't execute on the actual instances, so I SSH-ed into each of them and executed the script manually. That didn't help, and the error message didn't change.
