The last check initially didn't work for me because I had the BigQuery query formatted in a slightly different way (with some newlines here and there, to make it more readable). The check could be made more robust, at least by ignoring whitespace differences.

the simulate traffic step in Move a chatty pod to minimize cross-zonal traffic costs didn't work no matter how many times I tried it, but apparently the other steps worked. I restarted the lab and followed all of the steps again and it worked on the second attempt.

I sat waiting for the regional-demo cluster to create for 30 minutes before it got stuck at 64% and failed the first time, only to attempt to delete and recreate the cluster where it again got stuck at 64% the second time. I basically wasted an hour an five minutes from the moment I tried to create the cluster. Very frustrated.
