If the goal of this lab was for the student to just mechanically understand how to create an instance and set up a notebook then it achieved its goal. However, if the purpose was to understand all the code - there was not enough time for that at all. I wrote a few NN jypyter notebooks myself outside the cloud, and for me, there are so many different new concepts and frameworks and commands that I didn't know. I think most students in this case would know even less. I would create a much simpler notebook at this point and put more emphasize on gradually building the knowledge. In any case, IMHO, I think the goal was not clearly defined.
