would have liked more hands on from scratch writing of CF templates for the basic app. I get it though, some people wouldnt be able to and would lead them to a negative experience.

One section, my lab did not follow through, and there were no instructions indicating this might happen. I had to start the section over, because I had waited over 5 minutes.

The switch from "very easy to understand the JSON" to "very complicated JSON" is steep. Also the "WARNING: YOU WILL BE BILLED" message in the templates let me check it multiple times that this was required in the lab.
