While it did not give a detailed account of how incorporating 3rd party APIs works, it was rock solid instruction on building dynamodb using other services.

The instructions say to increase the write capacity of the DynamoDB tables, but the only available property on the Capacity tab for me was a Read Capacity property, so that was a bit confusing. Also, even when I increased the Twitter feed all the way to 100%, I didn't find any of the tweets grayed out.

Wasn't able to get Social Stream Application to overwhelm DB so didn't really see any noticeable differences when bumping up read/writes.
