I had problems with the default project not being selected automatically. I initially opened cloud shell but didn't realize there was no project selected. I selected the correct project in the drop-down. But when I tried to use the gcloud config set project <project-name-id> it said I didn't have permissions. I may have mistyped the project name. Instead, I closed the cloud shell, re-selected the project, re-opened cloud shell. Then it worked. I created the Windows compute instance but when running the cloud shell command to confirm the server was up it didn't know my region and zone and it couldn't display all 121 options to let me choose one. I skipped that and used the reset password command by specifying --zone us-west1-a. Everything else went fine and I completed the lab.

Doing the lab on a windows PC (and not at a google event) makes connecting to the RDP difficult.
