I suggest to specify that the instance to be created should be named "instance-1", as it doesnt say it, and after some other steps there is a command referencing this name that (as I understand) wont work. the other option would be to change this command gcloud compute instances get-serial-port-output instance-1 to this gcloud compute instances get-serial-port-output [instance name] or something similar
