There was no checking of my completion, which makes me feel like I could have done this without actually using the qwiklab. Also after the removal of the External IP address from privatenet-us-vm the lab said none of this previous attempts to connect to the internet would work. This is not true, as both, gsutil ls gs://gcp-next2017-security-bootcamp/README and gsutil cat gs://gcp-next2017-security-bootcamp/README gave the same result without an external IP address, as with.
